Giraffe Height – How Tall?


The Giraffe is the tallest land animal in the world. The Northern giraffe is the biggest species amongst the giraffes. Full-grown giraffes stand 4.3–5.7 m (14.1–18.7 ft) tall.

There are about nine subspecies on giraffe:

  • Nubian Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)
  • West African Giraffe (G. c. peralta)
  • Kordofan Giraffe (G. c. antiquorum)
  • South African Giraffe (G. c. giraffa)
  • Angolan (or Smoky) Giraffe (G. c. angolensis)
  • Masai (or Kilimanjaro) Giraffe (G. c. tippelskirchi)
  • Thornicroft’s (or Rhodesian) Giraffe (G. c. thornicrofti)
  • Rothschild’s (or Ugandan) Giraffe (G. c. rothschildi)
