Broad Peak, also known as K3, is the 12th highest mountain in the world. It stands at an elevation of approximately 8,051 meters (26,414 feet) above sea level. Broad Peak is located in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas, on the border between Pakistan and China. The mountain is renowned for its distinctive pyramid shape and its challenging climbing routes, attracting experienced mountaineers from around the world. Broad Peak is part of the Gasherbrum massif, which includes several other notable peaks. Despite its lower elevation compared to some of the other 8,000-meter peaks, Broad Peak presents significant technical challenges due to its steep terrain and harsh weather conditions.

Furthermore, the top was first reached on June 8, 1957, by Fritz Wintersteller. Finally, on 5 March 2013, it was successfully climbed for the first time in winter.

Other Facts

Firstly, Fritz Wintersteller, Hermann Buhl, Marcus Schmuck, and Kurt Diemberger made the first ascent to the top of the mountain between June 8 and 9, 1957. Secondly, the second successful ascent by a woman was done in 1983. Thirdly, the first winter ascent was achieved on March 3, 2013, by a polish expedition team.
